Beware the most dreaded of all meteorological phenomena the Siberian High! For many years that dire warning was often given by Bill Matheson, a much loved weatherman in the area. Winter in can be downright frigid, sometimes dipping to minus 30 Celsius or worse before adding in the nasty windchill.
What happens when that weather rolls in? People slow down. They stay indoors, get a little grumpy and are whole lot less productive. Cold temperatures take their toll physically, mentally and emotionally.
Take the temperature of your surroundings
Do you routinely hang out with people who are little chilly?
Cold people like to complain a lot. Or tell you why you can't or shouldn't do something. They are people who have perfected the "yes-but" excuse. Hanging out with cold people is a sure way to dampen your internal fire. You end up feeling discouraged, get stuck, and likely settle for a pretty mediocre existence. You begin thinking that you have no other options.
Start surrounding yourself with hot people.
Not hot in the Brad and Angelina sense. I mean people whose lives are on fire and who want you to live that way too. People who support, encourage and inspire you. People who will give you a kick in the butt when you need it. Think of them as your own personal success circle. These are your go-to gang when you want a fresh perspective, to brainstorm ideas, or need a little cheerleading. Spend less time with cold people and more time with hot ones.
Are you stuck with stone cold ideas and habits?
If you find yourself doing the same old thing day in and day out, reading the same kind of books, listening to the same music, watching the same TV programs, then you've turned down the temperature on your enthusiasm, creativity and opportunities.
It's time for some hot ideas.
Do something different. Try something new. When you hang out with hot people, you're more likely to shake things up on a regular basis. Pick a magazine you've never read before. Learn a new skill. Take up a new hobby. Warming up your ideas and habits is a great way to increase the fire in your life.
You don't have to wait for the cold snap to break. You can begin turning up the temperature in your life today. Surround yourself with super hot people and idea and before you know it, you'll be sizzling too.
